ThemeSaver is a small, but powerful set of utilities that will save the entire current configuration of RocketDock to a 'Theme'.

This includes RocketDock configuration settings for ALL items:
- dock icons, docklets, background, screen position, zoom settings, etc....
- saves and loads config/image info for some docklets for each theme...
- loads user configured indicator/poof/icon images for each theme...
- loads user configured wallpaper for each theme...

Then you can switch between your previously saved Themes with just a few clicks of the mouse!

Visit http://ThemeSaver.blogspot.com for much more detailed information.

IMPORTANT INFO:

Anyone experiencing any problems, please check this...

Confirm that in the RocketDock Dock Settings > General > " Store Settings in a Portable INI " this setting must NOT be checked.

UPDATE: v3.0.0.1

http://rocketdock.com/addon/misc/17252

Special-Designs

You need to save your downloaded skins in:

C:\Program Files\RocketDock\Skins

NOT the ..\RocketDock\Themes Folder.

Perhaps that's the problem ?

If that doesn't help please email me at:

themesaver AT gmail DOT com

and I'll help you figure it out.

Works great! Good job on the program and the nice looking documentation that came with it. As to anyone who is having issues with this, please carefully read the download pages from now on and check documentation. I'm running a pretty unstable Operating System set-up and this program works fine, just had to follow instructions and not read half of them and dive in.

:)

Thanks metallicafan818...

btw. I think the problem for Carl, and possibly others is that v.3.0 REQUIRES that Rocketdock be ***NOT*** set for INI usage. Otherwise it won't work. Either follow this... ***OR*** download and install the v.3.1 beta on top of the v.3.0 installation. With v.3.1 you can use 'registry' and/or INI settings of Rocketdock and it should work either way.

WTF how can ppl not be able to install and run this? its so simple...
btw very nice app i love it fragrant!!!

's Avatarfragrant.monkey (June 17, 2009):

Carl.

I'm so sorry that you had such problems.

ThemeSaver is installed in whatever RocketDock location you tell it to during the initial install. I have no idea why you would have three RocketDock installs on the same machine....

So... In the RocketDock folder where ThemeSaver was installed you will find there is a new folder called 'Themes' which contains all the Themes, ThemeSaver and ThemeLoader, and support files.

As to why there are three files for every theme... as explained in the documentation, one file is a specific batch install routine for that theme, one is a copy of the RocketDock settings specific to that theme, and one is a copy of the RocketDock Docklet settings specific to that theme. I'm not a professional, nor experienced programmer, this 'program' that I wrote is only a glorified batch routine that saves/renames/copies etc. all the appropriate information to work as intended.

As to why the 'theme' wasn't re-starting... I'm not sure why it wasn't working for you. I'm sure it's something that can be figured out. If you are interested in trying again, I would be happy to help you sort things out.

That goes for anyone too of course.

's AvatarCarl Minez (June 16, 2009):

I am afraid i have a whole set of problems to report regarding this application.

Firstly, the themes are being saved in the wrong rocket dock folders. See i have download 3 different rocket docks and the themes are being saved with the wrong one.

And secondly, i cant find the themes that i have saved. The themes are as it seems only visible with the program "ThemeFinder". However i cant see or manage the themes if i just open the folder. Why is that?

Another problem is that the themes doesnt at all seem to work ony my computer seeing as i can click on a theme yet nothing happens. My dock doest return the the previous look that i saved. This is confusing and somewhat annoying problem seeing as i cant return to my previous look.

Lastly, a friend of mine found that the thems are being saved as three different files in the folder. I red the guide and didnt quite understand why i need three different files to access one theme.

I have now uninstalled the program on my computer and restored my dock all by myself. Im am a bit disappointed given that this would be a great program if it actually worked for me. I love to change the look of my dock. Now, until further notice, i will just have to find another way.

Thanks.

ManChild,

Hmmm. I'd never thought of the portable app aspect as a reason to use the Settings.ini instead of the registry settings.

There are a couple reasons why i haven't made ThemeSaver work with both registry settings and/or the ini settings. Maybe I need to rethink that.

Thanks for your perspective.

's AvatarManChild (April 5, 2009):

Great tool!!! I do have a request though. It is now possible to install RocketDock version 1.3.x as a portable app, then run the program from a USB flashdrive. Is there any possibility that ThemeSaver could be modified to support this portable use of RocketDock? It currently seems to pull some of its information from the Registry instead of Settings.ini, which means it gets the incorrect name of the current Theme, and therefore doesn't know how to correctly find optional wallpapers.

's Avatarjeffrazak (March 22, 2009):

And I also would like to add ...

THERE IS NO VIRUS WHATSOEVER!!!

Highly recommended.
