I actually had to create my own version of the MySpace logo for this one. I *think* it turned out nicely, and it certainly looks pretty slick on the icon.
Apparently there aren't very many vector graphic folks interested in MySpace, or in re-creating a decent logo for it, at least.

Easiest way is to get everything the way you want it, then hit Alt-PrtScrn. This takes a snapshot of the active window and puts it in the Windows clipboard. From there, open your favorite graphics editor and simply paste into a new document.
Instant screenshot!
(BTW, in order to ensure Alt-PrtScrn will capture your desktop, make sure you click in an empty area of the Desktop to focus it before you take a screenshot.)
oh so thats yours how do you take a screen shot?

Well the reason I'm able to zip through them is that most of it is a basic template. I spend more time on the logo portion than the icon as a whole. The background colors are simple gradients that are changeable on-the-fly, so once the logo is in place, it's a simple matter of choosing the colors for the icon, and then the two letters for the "name".
Quick and simple, right? That was the goal for this set when I first created it. It had to be simple enough for me to easily create new icons when I find a new program that needs to be included on the Dock. For example, I just started using Reaper last week! Icon? Took twenty minutes to make the logo. Done. LOL.
As for your challenge, I'm not sure how to best approach that one. For more mainstay things like folders and My Computer and such, I actually use icons that are completely different from the Chicklet Cookies, which makes them stand out for easy identification. I could make some Chicklet Cookies for those, but they won't stand out too well when placed in with all of the app shortcuts. Just a simple heads-up before I start slaving away on those! :)_
